A guided family journal for behaviour, daily routines, school and emotional growth. A book, with a companion app to follow.

Recognition before reward.

Children rarely grow through correction alone.
They grow when they feel connected.

Fay Birmingham, founder of Progress Path

Why me

This began with my own daughter

I built Progress Path as a single mother, for my daughter, before it was ever a product.

I want to be clear: I wasn’t a struggling parent, and Tia wasn’t a struggling child. She’s wonderful, and she’s well-behaved. But I was working long hours as an executive, and one question wouldn’t leave me alone: I know I’m good at my job; am I giving my daughter that same 150%? In the time I actually had with her, was I really doing everything I could as her mother?

When you’re the only one, there’s no other grown-up to tell you you got it right. Only your child, and a child’s yes, however much you love it, is never quite the reassurance you’re looking for.

I started searching for something that could help me be the parent I wanted to be, and make the time we had together feel meaningful and structured. When I couldn’t find anything that fit our family, I decided to build it myself. It began with simple notes, paying attention to what was really happening with Tia, what triggered the tougher moments, and how I could respond. I focused on noticing the good, not just reacting to the difficult, and using gentle, fair consequences she could actually understand. I tried to make it feel like a game for her.

What surprised me most was how much the behaviours I’d worried about started to soften. For us, more deliberate time and attention seemed to make the biggest difference.

That first log became the Behaviour pack. Then I built the others the same way: emotional growth, school, and daily routines, each one a way for a busy parent to stay genuinely connected to their child’s whole world.

That’s why I’m building this myself. I know what it feels like to love your child completely and still lie awake at night wondering if you’re doing enough. Progress Path is what I created so that no parent, no matter how busy, has to carry that question alone.

Built for how families really work

Families don’t always live under one roof

Children do best when the adults around them are on the same page. Progress Path is built to make that possible, with the family always in control.

Two homes, one child

When parents live apart, both can use Progress Path together, seeing the same picture of how their child is doing, without having to relay it through each other. More consistency for the child, less friction for the parents, and no child caught in the middle.

A trusted eye, when it helps

With the family’s permission, a school or fostering agency will, once that view is built, be given a view-only window, not to interfere, but to support the work happening around that child.

Always parent controlled. Always privacy conscious. Always designed around the child’s interests.

Why it works

The same problem, a different answer

Most tools focus on correcting behaviour. Progress Path helps children feel seen, understood and ready to grow.

When tools focus only on behaviour

Control

  • Rewards used without relationship
  • Consequences without enough understanding
  • Starts with the behaviour
  • A generic chart abandoned within weeks
  • The child feels managed
The Progress Path way

Connection

  • Notice and understand the child first
  • Recognition before reward, always
  • Behaviour is more likely to grow when connection and trust are in place
  • A system built around your real child
  • The child feels seen, and wants to grow

In practice, that means two charts, not one: naming what you’re working on, and marking it when it goes right. Neither works alone.

“

The opposite of bad behaviour isn’t punishment.
It’s connection.

The belief every part of Progress Path is built on

One system, one language

One system, working together

Progress Path helps children build routines, confidence, emotional awareness and positive behaviour, across four parts that serve one thing: a calmer rhythm at home, and your child’s sense of who they are becoming.

Family Principles & Beliefs

Beyond the packs, you’ll also define your family’s core values and what matters most to you. These guide how you notice, celebrate and support your child, and stay consistent across everything, whether home is one house or two.

The app goes where you go: a gentle prompt while you wait at the school gates or ride the bus home, a moment to notice, message or reflect, so connection keeps happening in the small gaps of a busy day, not just at bedtime.

How it works at home

A simple rhythm, not a project

Progress Path works the same way in every home: notice what matters, name it, and celebrate it together.

1

Choose one pack

Parents begin with the area that matters most right now, such as behaviour, daily routines, school habits or emotional growth.

2

Set a weekly focus

The family chooses a small number of actions to practise, rather than trying to fix everything at once.

3

Use the app to notice the day

Parents and children use the app to log effort, reflection and progress in a simple daily rhythm.

4

Recognise effort

Small steps are noticed and rewarded through stars, stickers and progress moments.

5

Reflect together

The system creates space for calm conversations, not just correction.

6

Celebrate growth

Children build towards rewards, keepsakes and meaningful milestones that show their progress.

A simple rhythm, not a second job

Progress Path works in the time you already spend with your child: morning check-ins, bedtime, after school. The app takes 5 to 10 minutes most days. Weekly reflection is gentle, not a chore.

Applications open now · Launching autumn 2026

Apply to become a Founding Family

Before Progress Path launches publicly, a small group of families will test the book and app with us, and help shape the version everyone else gets.

Founding Family places are free, and they open in two waves. The first wave is open now, a second opens later in the programme. Every family gets full access for the length of the first pack. In return, we ask you to help shape what gets built, and about ten minutes a fortnight.

Founding Families will

Help us build it

  • Receive early access updates before public launch
  • Help shape the first book and app experience
  • Try one Progress Path pack at home
  • Share honest feedback about what feels clear, confusing, useful or missing
  • Help us understand how the system works in real family life
  • Have a real say in the version everyone else gets
What you’ll receive

Early access, with a real voice

  • Free access to test and use the app for the length of the pilot
  • Your name listed as a Founding Family
  • A direct line to me
  • A real voice in what gets built, not just a feedback form
  • When the pilot ends you keep your place: a Founding Family for good, recognised in the app, first to every new pack and feature, and access to a special Founding Family rate when paid plans launch

No family is expected to be perfect

We are looking for honest homes, real feedback and parents who want to help shape something meaningful.

Progress Path is designed for families with children aged 4 to 16. Our first Founding Family test group is currently focused on children aged 4 to 14. The book covers ages 4 to 14, and the app extends to 16.

Founding Families are told the launch date before anyone else, and before it’s public.

Thank you. You’re on the list, we’ll be in touch soon.

For schools, fostering agencies & foster carers

Become a Founding School

Progress Path is designed to work flexibly around different children, including families supporting children with SEND or SEMH needs. It gives a home the structure to notice, recognise and grow a child’s behaviour, routines, school habits and emotional development, and it lets schools, agencies and foster carers support that work without adding to their workload.

The family administrator decides what a partnered school sees. That can be as light as a note the school receives with no access to family information at all, a parent-approved progress summary and agreed goals, or one specific thing the family administrator chooses to share for a set period and purpose. There is no option to see everything, and a school can never activate, change or override anything in a family’s account.

What a Founding School partnership will build towards

View-only, parent-controlled

A picture of a child’s engagement and progress at home, exactly as much as the parent chooses to share, never more.

Progress Summary

A parent approved summary of the goals, focus areas and progress the family has chosen to share.

Support beyond the classroom

A way to support children, including those with SEND and SEMH needs, beyond the school day.

Almost no extra work

No data entry, nothing new to run, just insight for the conversations you’re already having.

We’re opening up to ten Founding School and agency partnerships, free for the founding period, running for one school term rather than to a fixed date. Each partnership starts with two or three families who are already using Progress Path at home, so there’s something real to look at from the beginning.

The school view is built and in testing. Founding partners will be the first to use it and help shape it before it opens more widely. In return, we ask for one conversation a half term and your honest view of what would make this useful in your setting.

Progress Path is not a clinical intervention. It is a structured family growth system designed to support connection, routine, recognition and reflection, with the family always in control.

Progress Path does not diagnose, clinically risk score or rate a child. It calculates the rewards you agreed and describes patterns in what your family recorded.

Progress Path is not a safeguarding tool and does not create a safeguarding route. A school’s existing procedures are unchanged, Progress Path never acts as intermediary, and if a school sees something concerning they follow their own policy exactly as they would with any other information about a child.

Progress Path information is never the sole basis for a school’s formal decision: a behaviour sanction, a SEND referral, a SEMH assessment, a safeguarding determination or an exclusion. It can support a conversation, but a trained professional always makes that call, using your own procedures and the child’s wider circumstances.

Progress Path does not diagnose, clinically risk score or rate a child. Listening is measured through response, not eye contact, a deliberate choice that matters for neurodivergent children as much as any other.

Every Founding School signs an agreement before any pupil information becomes accessible, covering access, confidentiality, security and how the partnership can end.

Read our Data Use, Privacy Policy and Child Safety pages, all published as drafts ahead of a full solicitor review.

Registration number means your DfE URN, Ofsted URN, Charity Commission number or Companies House number, whichever applies. It helps us confirm we are speaking to the organisation itself.

Thank you. We’ll be in touch soon.
